This place is very recognisable – you would’ve driven past it a thousand times and seen its huge, outdoor courtyard right in the middle of the Erko shopping stretch. A beautiful, shady spot to sit and soak in the ambience, for sure, but as I drew closer to the cafe, I noticed that the only people doing so were “elderly”. The prevalence of the elderly often seems to indicate a bad cafe (The Little Duck is a perfect case in point). I assume they’re drawn to predictable, safe, thoroughly-cooked food. Anyway, I’m digging myself into an offensive hole – my apologies. I approached the counter with a bit of confusion, as there’s another cafe (or pizza place?), The Piatsa Pizza Cafe, so close next door that you can’t really tell where one cafe ends and the other begins. Which one was attracting the elderly horde? I’m still not sure. Now, my takeaway order isn’t complicated: a small FW in a keep cup and a toasted BB, no butter. My Sip Inn BB was dripping with a thick slather of greasy butter. Is it that hard to remember one specification? So I was a little bit grumpy as I tried to taste around the overwhelming buttery flavour, and concluded that the BB was bland, very crumbly and I didn’t like it. The coffee was ok, but very much on the predictable, safe, not-too-strongly-flavoured side, which I don’t like but have come to accept as average. I probably won’t be coming back, unless it’s to try out its conjoined twin cafe next door.

Coffee: 0
