I like to come here for a casual seafood lunch. So what am I doing here for coffee and BB? When babies and beach, then Boathouse, I guess. The bloody seagulls are ruthless, literally swooping at me to try and grab the BB out of my hand, and succeeding in getting a piece away from the toddler. Boathouse’s BB is served as its own entire mini loaf, sliced into several mini-BBs, with mascarpone and real honeycomb on the side. Normally, when I get takeaway, I just get the BB on its own because I find spreads and things difficult to negotiate with a toddler wanting to get his sticky fingers all over the thing. Today, I made an exception, and regretted it, since the seagulls were all over me, the toddler was all over me, and there were sticky fingers, sand and germ-ridden gull beaks all prodding at the takeaway box. Sand got in. Everything was gritty and gross. And freaking phenomenal. My coffee was fantastic, despite it having leaked in my bag because I didn’t screw my keep cup lid on properly *facepalm* – when it rains, it pours. Thank goodness it didn’t rain! Excellent coffee, excellent BB. Lesson learnt: eat in.
