The Container is a cafe operating out of a shipping container at the entry to the Camperdown Commons urban farm. It’s not really much of a cafe, since it doesn’t have a kitchen and is almost entirely stocked by the restaurant behind it, but as long as whatever’s in The Homestead is good, The Container will follow. I spent many a morning snacking on what I assumed were the leftovers from Acre’s dessert cart, but when Acre closed down, The Container somehow kept on truckin’. I definitely have fond memories of the whole Camperdown Commons location, having lived, worked and raised a family so close by. I gave my toddler his first marshmallow here – I’m not sure if he realised it was meant for eating as he spent 20mins fiddling with it until it got sticky then wiped it all over his shirt. In the past, the coffee has definitely been a 1. I would walk the extra distance to get a Container coffee. But this morning, it’s just average. I don’t recognise the barista anymore, possibly due to the post-Acre changes. And sadly, they never do a BB. I’ll definitely be coming back here for the location, but that’s about it.
