I’ve been trying for a little while to make it to Comeco, a Japanese, vegan and gluten-free cafe/casual restuarant. I really love the allergen and additive-free ethos going on here. With only vegan options, I picked almond again for my coffee and was suitably impressed. The almond milk was relatively neutral and I could actually taste the (fairly average, ssh) coffee, but that’s defintely a positive outcome, given how I feel about milk substitutes. There was nothing that really resembled a BB, so I got one of their signature sourdoughnuts instead, made with sweet potato and cinnamon sugar. The couple of bites I had were nice, but once the toddler tasted it, he loved it so much he refused to hand it back. Their delicate, vegan bentos looked exquisite, so I wouldn’t mind re-visiting for a bit of wider sampling.
