Taking pride of place on a hugely busy Glebe Point Rd intersection, Lillipad is a hub of urban Indigenous culture. Casual, comfortable and eclectically decorated, the barista made you feel at home and the other customers were just like a group of friends and family. Because Lillipad is so unpretentious, I wasn’t expecting such a fantastic coffee! These rich, chocolatey beans were supplied by ‘People of the Coffee’, Australia’s first female ethical roaster. I love supporting roasters like this, but I’m not willing to compromise on quality, so I consider it such a bonus when my coffee is excellent to begin with AND supports hard working women. My banana bread was absolutely fantastic too: baked in-house with a natural homemade shape, nice crust, and beefed up with dark choc chips and lots spices. It tasted like a warm choc-chip hot cross bun! Although I’m usually not a huge fan of chocolate in my banana bread, this was definitely an exception to the rule, with a truly unique stand-out flavour. Lillipad really blew my mind – come to support great causes and stay because it’s actually a really great place to be.
