Oh how I love a fantastic cafe right next to a fantastic playground. My coffee was excellent. It wasn’t milky, watery or weak, just nice, hot, smooth and almost fruity-flavoured. The banana bread was baked in-house at Centennial Homestead, but there was nothing dinky and “homebaked” about it. It was a high-quality professional-looking-and-tasting banana bread – the kind you could supply to cafes across Sydney and it would be better than most. It was incredibly fresh and sweet, but not with vanilla or banana essence. It was sweet with some unknown nectar of the gods. I ended up having to fight for it, and not just against the constant clamouring of the babies. There were no less than eight ibises crowding around for crumbs, not to mention an uncountable horde of pigeons. A darn bin chicken literally raided my bag for my rubbish afterwards and now I feel like my whole bag is unclean. But bin chickens and rats of the air aside, what a fantastic brekkie. Queens Park is a beautiful little suburb I didn’t know existed, Queens Park Playground is absolutely perfect for toddlers and Queens Park Kitchen just makes the whole experience complete.
