I almost didn’t see this cute little place, hidden underneath an escalator in the Westfield hidden underneath Sydney Tower. It had an old-timey Italian hole-in-the-wall style, so I was hoping it would be run by old-timey Italians serving classically rich espressos in tiny little cups. Unfortunately there was none of that, but the service was quick and I’m sure they could cater efficiently to the city rush hour. The coffee was pretty average – I could detect a bit of a distinct flavour, but not much. The banana bread was small, greasy and generic, a bit like the Soul Origin banana bread. I guess Il Caffettino isn’t too bad if you’re just passing through, but it’s definitely not the kind of place you’d come back to.
