As I approached The Wedge this morning, there was a young, well-dressed guy sitting on the footpath outside, drinking a coffee and asking for spare change. Welcome to Glebe. The Wedge has been an old favourite of mine since it was just a little wedge of space down the side of Cowper St. Now it’s all grown up, is fully licensed, runs a dinner service and has expanded into the shopfront on Glebe Point Rd too. When a cafe becomes a restaurant/bar, that’s the best thing it can possibly do – just try and keep me away! I expect good things from The Wedge, and it delivered true to form. The coffee was bursting with flavour. The banana bread wasn’t a banana bread, it was a beautiful fruit and nut bread, absolutely loaded with all kinds of citrus and spiced fruits – a hearty, succulent, meal-sized serve that I couldn’t even finish. I love what you do, Wedge, keep on doing it.
