I’ve walked past The Peak countless times and have literally thought, “Nah.. I’m not going in there.” Visually, The Peak doesn’t look like much. Their sign has literally been printed on paper and stuck above the door. The front door has 2 restrictively steep and narrow steps, which I hate having to take into account, but the heavier these boys get, the harder it is for me to “just bump the pram up” a couple of steps. The interior is mostly kitchen with a small counter and a large fridge greeting you as soon as you step inside, which, with its dim lighting, kinda gives it a “closed” look from the outside. The menu consists of Hong Kong-style brunch fare, bubble waffles, fluffy french toast and a signature homemade pineapple bun, which was my Hong Kong substitute for banana bread. And despite all my misgivings, it was absolutely freaking delicious. It was fresh, soft, warm, subtly pineapply… they should definitely try their hand at banana bread and if it turns out anything like this, it will put them on the map for sure. The coffee wasn’t even too bad, it was just fine! I should’ve just come through The Peak’s closed-looking kitchen door so much sooner, without the pram.
