It just doesn’t get better than this. The Brickfields Bakery has limited, highly-prized seating space, but it still serves a gorgeous array of baked goods alongside a beautiful dine-in menu. Their coffee is to die for, but most importantly, the Brickfields banana bread is my all-time favourite. It’s packed with real bananas for that fresh, authentic flavour, and has a perfect balance of moisture and density. The texture is smooth in the middle with just the right amount of crust on the outside, and it has a distinctive “eye fillet” shape: small and thick-cut. Not only is the banana bread delicious, but that shape and flavour are instantly recognisable. Whenever I order takeaway banana bread, I can tell if it’s from Brickfields immediately, and if a cafe stocks the Brickfields banana bread (like Rising Sun, or my old favourite and sorely missed 212 Blu), they’re doing better than if they’d baked their own in-house.
