I’ve always liked Ella & Beau. They were the closest cafe to my old work and although their coffee wasn’t the best, they had good made-to-order breakfast rolls and a variety of mushroom dishes, so I ended up going there pretty frequently (although I would walk the extra distance to The Annex if I wanted something better). True to form, today’s coffee was definitely a miss, which is a little surprising because stocking beans from Black Market roasters isn’t necessarily a bad choice. The banana bread was also not good. It was very greasy and although it contained a hint of fresh banana, it still had a very cakey sweetness. Too bad, because the service was lovely and it’s really not a bad cafe overall, although I guess I probably wouldn’t go there unless I worked right nearby.
