Here I am, right in the middle of what I’d consider to be Marrickville, and yet across the road I can see the Wolf & Honeybee, a little cafe on the far west border of Newtown with, unsurprisingly, very Marrickvilley vibes. There were cool murals on the wall both inside and out. The service was homely, the locals were friendly and my coffee was good. However, I was lured into a false sense of security by their Brickfields croissants, hoping that their banana bread might be Brickfields too. It wasn’t. It was that greasy, sweet and artificial-tasting donut bread that I come across far too frequently. Wolf & Honeybee is a cool place, I just wish it something more distinctive to offer.
