We don’t talk about Brudo, no, no, no. But we do talk about Brudo’s cute little coffee cart down by the water at Circular Quay. I broke my flat white standard and ordered their signature “Hot Brudo”: a double-ristretto piccolo. I figured if they can’t get their featured drink right then they sure won’t be serving a decent flat white either. They got it kinda right. With beans from Seven Mile, the flavour was ok, but it didn’t taste very ristrettoey. A double ristretto piccolo should burst with that juicy sweet flavour, but instead it just tasted like a very strong little coffee. It wasn’t too bad. It went well enough with their safe-bet Mama Kaz banana bread. It was a little on the crumbly side and had a hint of that donutty flavour, but it was nicely toasted and the crumb-covered babies loved it. Definitely stop by Brudo’s on a family day out for the novelty and quaint, old-timey charm.
