I’ve hit up a lot of vegan places this week. I’m starting to get used to almond milk, or at least fine-tune my assessment of what makes a good almond FW. My coffee from Le Gourmand today was as seamless as my “forgot it wasn’t real milk” experience at Buddha Bowl – absolutely delicious. They didn’t have BB, but my Biscoff macaron and truffle mushroom croissant were unbelievable. I know a guy who calls croissants “butter delivery systems”, so how Le Gourmand manages to produce soft, flaky, buttery croissants, without butter, amazes me. It was creamy and packed with thick mushrooms, with a suitably subtle truffly aroma. Not to mention the classic French music and crisp, classic style creating such an authentic French ambience. Very impressed.
